The bird and the fish

School Story Curriculum

Concept – How do we see?

A talkative bird was looking for some grains to eat.

It could not find any grains in the rice field as the rice had been cut.

It could not find any rice in the village granary as the rice had been sold to city market vendors.

It could not find any rice with the city market vendors as it had been sold to the supermarket.

It could not enter the supermarket as there was much barricading.

Meanwhile, it munched on a leaf. At this time, it saw a fish was talking to itself in the water of the pond. It saw this and wondered how it saw?

“I have not eaten, yet I can see clearly? So, seeing has nothing to do with food and being comfortable. You see automatically but how?”

Another bird in the tree heard this and answered, “You see through eyes which convert light into images of the visible world. This happens whether you have eaten or not.”
